Yes, I’ll admit. Kyle the Vagabond has been a bit absent as of late. With all of my outside freelance articles I’ve been writing for Gadling, Viator, and Matador my own personal blog has taken somewhat of an extended nap.
Well, today I’m publishing openly that Im going to change that and breathe fresh new life back into Kyle the Vagabond. Expect more posts, more photos, more video, and an entirely revamped site that will continue to focus on the passion of travel and exploring this endlessly fascinating world.
With that being said, you’ll currently find Kyle leaving the sun-drenched shores of Maui for the beaches and shorelines of…Milwaukee?
Yes, that’s right. I’m going to Milwaukee. Why? Because for one thing I’ve never been there, and summertime in Milwaukee is supposed to be awesome. The last time I was in Wisconsin was ten years ago and I was 18 years old. Oh, and I was only there for a day, so that barely even counts.
Also, in case you weren’t aware, Milwaukee hosts the world’s largest music festival. It’s called Summerfest, and it will be going on from June 27-July 8. Want to know who’s playing? Scope out the music schedule to find names such as Steve Miller Band, Lady Antebellum, Jimmy Cliff, Ben Folds Five, and about…oh, I don’t know, 796 other bands. It’s going to be massive.
Also, Milwaukee is reputed to be flowing with beer, most notably Pabst Blue Ribbon of which we all know I am a fan. Granted, Milwaukee is only the original home of PBR and its history with the city has long since faded. Other beers stepped in years ago to take the place of PBR, but going into the visit, I honestly can’t telly you that much about them, hence my anticipation. I’m sure there will be more to come on this later, most likely an entire post devoted explicitly to beer in Milwaukee.
Finally, Milwaukee is also on Lake Michigan, which for those of you who are not familiar is essentially large enough to be considered an ocean. There are beaches, there is boating, and occasionally there can even be surf.
I’m honestly excited about this summertime jaunt to the Midwest and stay tuned while I bring you the best that the city of Milwaukee has to offer.
As they say in the start of “That 70’s Show”, “Hello Wisconsin!”.
