Cabarete Stand Up Paddling
Cabarete is most famously known as the kitesurfing capital of the Caribbean. On most days, however, the wind doesn’t start until 1pm, leaving the morning open for watersports such as surfing or stand up paddling.
The reef at Cabarete is perfect for stand up paddling since there is a flat water lagoon offshore, and also a reef where you’ll find breaking waves located a couple of hundred yards out. There are numerous shops throughout town that rent paddles and boards, and an early-morning paddle is on the best ways to begin your day on the water.
Here, a lone stand up paddler drops into a wave at the famous Encuentro surf break.
