About the Author: Kyle Ellison isn’t just a writer who was assigned a book on Maui; he is a Maui resident with 25 years of knowledge who has compiled it all in a book. He hasn’t just eaten at island restaurants, but has actually been the server. He hasn’t just researched a sunset sail, but has been the crew member hoisting the main while serving drinks on the water. He hasn’t just read about scuba diving Molokini, but has been the Divemaster pointing out marine life to groups of visiting divers. He has led Snuba diving tours on the island of Lana’i, has taken hundreds of people hiking on Maui, and proposed to his wife on the island of Moloka’i while swimming with hammerhead sharks. He has studied Hawaiian at Maui’s college, has surfed its reefs and snorkeled its bays, and spent his childhood learning every corner of the islands of Maui County.
As a freelance writer his work has appeared in Maui No Ka Oi, Ka’anapali Magazine, AOL Travel, Escape, Journey, Viator, Gadling, Afar, and the Huffington Post. For as much as he loves Maui he also loves the world, and his travels have taken him to 65 countries and 49 U.S. states. Outside of travel, he is also the founder of a non-profit organization that provides scholarships for students in Cambodia.
He is a writer, a traveler, a surfer, a diver, and now, with the release of the Moon handbook to Maui, your trusted guide to one of the world’s most enchantingly beautiful islands.
